Our Story
How We Met
Where It All Started
Our story begins in October 2020 in Chicago. Sahithi was a Tech Consultant in Philadelphia, and Kanna was a Retail Consultant in New York. We both moved to Chicago within two weeks of each other and, by chance, met within the first two weeks of moving to a new city.
Our love and respect for each other continued to grow as we spent more and more time together and talked about family, travel, friends, work, and many other topics. It only took three months for both of us to meet each other’s families, and six months later, we decided to move in together in Chicago.
Since then, we have traveled to 20+ countries and looking forward to continue spending the rest of our lives traveling and being adventurous! We are so excited to share our love for traveling and showcase one of our favorite places in the world to our close family and friends during our wedding weekend.

Proposal
Where It All Came Together
We were traveling through Portugal to celebrate Sahithi’s birthday in April 2022. The day after Sahithi’s birthday, we were in Porto and made plans to go on a Douro Valley wine tour.
Kanna told Sahithi it was a tour with a small group of people, which ended up not being true. Kanna had been working with the “small group”, which consisted of a photographer and private tour guide, for the previous three months to set up the surprise proposal in Douro Valley.
Kanna planned to propose in a vineyard in the afternoon as the tour progressed. However, he realized it was forecasted to rain that day, leading him to spontaneously decide to propose to Sahithi in the middle of the road near a lookout point.
Similar to how neither of us had plans to move to Chicago and made a spontaneous decision to do so, the proposal was also spontaneous. The day turned out to be more beautiful than what was planned and solidified something we both strongly believe in — everything happens for a reason!
Engagement
We celebrated our engagement in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia & Vienna.
