How We Met
Life is full of coincidental moments that were meant to be.
Our story begins in October 2020. Sahithi was a Tech Consultant in Philadelphia, and Kanna was a Retail Consultant in New York. We both moved to Chicago within two weeks of each other. Before moving to Chicago, neither of us had any expectations of being in a relationship, and by chance, we met within the first two weeks of moving to a new city.
There was an instant spark from the first date. Every conversation felt special, and we loved spending every moment together. It only took three months for our parents to meet each other, and within six months, we decided to move in together.
It has been a non-stop adventure since meeting each other, and we are excited to get married and continue being adventurous and traveling for the rest of our lives.
Proposal
A birthday surprise.
Kanna told Sahithi that they were going on an Airbnb tour experience to Douro Valley with a few random guests. They try to do at least one of these experiences when they travel.
What Sahithi didn't know was that it was a private tour with a photographer who disguised himself as a tourist.
Months leading up to the proposal, Kanna told Sahithi that he is planning a surprise birthday trip for her. She had no idea that he was working with a local jeweler in New York to design her engagement ring, a process she got 'fired' from, and reached out to a tour operator and a photographer in Portugal to plan a surprise proposal.
This meant Kanna needed to first think of the perfect birthday surprise in Porto on April 25th. Just when she thought all the surprises were over, he proposed to her on April 26th in Douro Valley, Portugal.
